American Heart Associations Golf event and 1st annual Women's symposium

Monday was a fun and rainy day! I really enjoyed spending the day at the Woodmont Country Club on behalf of the American Heart Association. It started early but the champion golfers did to let the mist of Mother Nature stop them from golfing for a great cause! I have been involved with this event for a few years but the big change was the 1st annual Women's symposium that was held in conjunction. ( we got to stay dry:).

There were many sessions on cooking, Zumba (done by the amazing Debi Bevins), nutrition, CPR and so much more. We were then treated to a heart healthy lunch. I have to admit, I am not a "foodie" but the raspberry sherbet was gone when I left:). Hey it is heart healthy! Michelle A Albert, MD, MPH, Professor and Chief of Cardiology at Howard University, gave an great lecture on the effects of stress and heart health. I definately paid attention!

We also heard an amazing testimonial from a fellow survivor, Andrea Woogsam.

What a great day for a great cause.

Here's to your heart!
